T-minus 2 Weeks -- Waiting

Hey friends, family, and assorted acquaintances, this is The Ireland Project.

*insert fanfare here*

For those who lack details, I'll be spending a semester in Louisburgh, County Mayo, Republic of Ireland, along with 3 CSS professors and a rough dozen other students. We'll be living and learning in cottages in Louisburgh, but we'll be traveling all over the place in Ireland while there.

A cottage! Complete with required Irish rainbow

At some point next week I'll post a rough schedule of where we'll be when, but they're mostly weekend trips.

I will be taking classes while traveling (hence the 'study' portion of 'study abroad'): Irish Lit and Drama, Intro to Art, Economics of Globalization, and Travel Writing. Just in case you were curious. We'll have class Mon-Thurs in the morning, and have the afternoon and evening to chill out and visit the pub (mostly where I'll be).

And that will be my life for the next semester!

For those who would like to get in touch with me, I will be periodically checking my school e-mail account, sbauer@css.edu. I won't have a cell phone with me, so please don't call or text it, because it will be sitting in a drawer in Duluth with the power off until May 11th or so. But, e-mail is excellent, maybe I'll be able to Skype at some point...

And of course this blog will be hopefully keeping you all updated as to my life. I had a friend tell me that she only blogged a few times because there was so much going on over there, but I'm hopefully going to be able to at least do a few small updates a week.

My plan is to write very little and just post pictures of what's been going on, complete with snarky captions, so that y'all are properly updated, and then I can get back to the pub.

I've been told the pub is kind of a big deal, and I'm not going to argue that.

So until then it's just me... Waiting... Here... Going a little bit crazy with a big suitcase on the floor of my bedroom and having nothing to put into it yet. I can't tell if 2 weeks is a long time or a very short time. I want to see everyone I can before I leave, which makes 2 weeks seem like a short time, since my parents are going to want me home as often as possible so they can hang out with me... But 2 weeks is 14 days, which is 336 hours. And that seems like a long time.

But, we'll just assume that it's a very short time and that I should treasure every moment of anticipation until the grand day arrives...

And that probably wraps up this very rambling and anxiety-ridden blog post. Here's to the future!
